As far as you mentiong of a backport, I did also try to use the test
kernel package under the Hardy permanent install and it did not help
Samba performance. Unfortunately as described it must also depend on
something else in Intrepid. It left me scritching my head over it other

Hi Guys,
Thanks for testing and the feedback. I'll tentatively mark this "Fix
Released" for Intrepid. Regarding getting this fix backported for Hardy
would be a bit more difficult. The reason is we'd need to isolate the
patch(es) to backport. This would likely require doing a git bisect.
And s
I can also comfirm it seems to be working FAR better in Intrepid, I
tested using the Intrepid Alpha 5 LiveCD

mapped network drive in Winamp. Samba seemed to be choking badly when
it came to reading info for many smaller file
It appears to be fixed in Intrepid. Any chance of it being fixed in the
hardy kernel?

I was having a similar problem with my Linksys EG1032v3. Using the r8169

from the Linksys website (eg1032v3), transfers were back to normal at
about 325Mbps. I tried testing it with the hardy alpha3 livecd, but I

Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. It contains an updated
version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron
Alpha2 release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-2/ .
You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you
can, please verify if
I have not a Feisty to test if it behaves like Gutsy. So I can not
assure if this bug applies to "Bugs which represent severe regressions
from the previous release of Ubuntu".

I'm retargeting this bug towards the upcoming Hardy kernel and have
tagged it as "hardy-kernel-candidate". However against the linux-
source-2.6.22 package this is being marked as "Won't Fix" as it does not
meet the criteria for a stable release update. To learn more about the
