This works in both Hardy and Interpid. Somebody probably fixed default

You don't need to install wmakerprefs unless you use it.
In WPrefs.app,
go to Keyboard Shortcut Preferences tab,
set Focus next window key to Alt-tab
set Focus previous window to Ctrl-tab
that should do the trick

is used the program assignes Mod1 and Mod2 to the shortcut.
Only Mod1 should be selected

- go to 'shortcuts'
- look for 'switch input focus to the next window'
- set mod1-tab as shortcut

I'll confirm this problem in gutsy. I upgraded to Hoary, and this
problem presented. I upgraded then to Gutsy, hoping that it would
disappear, but alas...
Sorry I didn't note the version of wmaker along the way. But right now
i'm at:
