Public bug reported:

Fresh Install of Gutsy to R40E produces inoperable keyboard (UK or US)
due to poor operation of keys. Attmepted workarounds from the Keyboard
preferences or Accessibility adjustments fail to stop the inoperation of
keystrokes, although keys sticking down can be stopped by only allowing
single operation strokes. Keys affected include the backspace, return,
spacebar, and direction arrows; and a range of, letters mostly in the
upper two rows.

The extent and level of difficulty of this problem (in terms of numbers
of unusable keys, and the frequency with which they malfunction) varies
according to which software is in use; e.g. GEDIT works reasonably well,
whilst Evolution LYX Open Office and the Terminal are effectively
unusable. This bug has rendered by computer usuable in the everyday
sense of the word.

I have reloaded Dapper (my previous OS) from a live CD and everything
works perfectly again, so this is definitely an issue with Gutsy (and
Fawn??) rather than the hardware.
