Public bug reported: rtl8821ae does not work out-of the box on Ubuntu 16.04. It does not detect any WIFi networks and laptop starts with Wifi disabled in NetworkManager. To make rtl8821ae work I have to do the following:
echo "blacklist ideapad_laptop" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/idepad.conf After that rtl8821ae loses connection occasionally.
