I also agree. Connecting from Perth, it's been failing consistently
since my latest install; at least five days, at every time of the day,
on four separate machines on two different connections connecting to
different exchanges. Even connecting to the AARNet front-end

I agree, this mirror is useless.
I would personally love to see a manual option for selecting your
mirror, because in AU, lots of ISP do mirroring which is not counted in
traffic usage. I wouldn't mind so much, but the Optus mirror takes a
ridiculously long time to do anything. It's even useless

I did a fresh install a few days ago.
The bit of the install that gets info from sources.list took over 10 minutes,
didn't load anything at commented out lines with au.archive.ubuntu.com
