Public bug reported: At random occasions, pstree returns "/proc/xxxx: No such file or directory" on stderr. No output on stdout is produced. I can reproduce the problem using this script:
#!/bin/bash for i in $(seq 1 1000); do unset p p=$(pstree -s -A $$ 2>/dev/null) if [ "$?" -ne "0" ]; then p=$(pstree -s -A $$ 2>/dev/null) echo "Retry: $p" fi sleep 0.02 done I have seen this behavior in version 22.15 (shipped with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, package version 22.15-2ubuntu1.2). The problem does not seem to occur on version 22.21 (shipped with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS). ** Affects: psmisc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1629839 Title: pstree reports "/proc/xxxx: No such file or directory" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/psmisc/+bug/1629839/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
