Since I reported this bug, I have reinstalled Ubuntu. I apt-getted the
rt kernel, but I can't seem to reproduce this bug anymore. It probably
was a result of the Feisty -> Gutsy upgrade. Marking as invalid. Cheers.

I tried to boot in recovery mode and it was OK so far. I typed 'init 2',
GDM started, I even got to log in, but it froze completely after a few
seconds. But neither GDM, Xorg or dmesg logs show anything unusual, as
far as I can tell.
