I have a Belgian (be) keyboard and can confirm that the key that looks like a quote produces a straight tick. (I don`t have any key that looks like a straight tick though) changing the be file in /etc/X11/xkb/symbols changes it for me after logging out of X and logging back in (apostrophe -

Correction. I now get straight ticks in all programs in both operating systems except for Word 2007. I can't explain the change, but I checked other programs before reporting this as a bug, and every other editor was using proper apostrophes before. Either Writer somehow managed to affect the
