Public bug reported:

I have used desktop.el for emacs for many years. Recently I upgraded to
Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon from Edgy Eft and I find that every time I launch emacs I
get the
error message:

Warning: desktop file appears to be in use by PID XXXX

When I check the PID, it is the same PID as the currently running emacs,
so basically it is complaining that it is using this file itself! This is an
example:

Emacs error mesg:

Please answer y or n. Warning: desktop file appears to be in use by PID 10877.
Using it may cause conflicts. Use it anyway? (y or n) "

lap1:[~] % ps auxwww | egrep 10877
pete 10877 9.5 1.9 49884 38856 ? S 14:47 0:06
emacs-snapshot-gtk -font Monospace-8
pete 10898 0.0 0.0 2988 776 pts/0 R+ 14:48 0:00 grep -E 10877

My emacs is:

GNU Emacs 23.0.60.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.0)

the desktop.el is the stock one with emacs.

Regards,
Pete
