The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:
1) If you are comfortable
Alright, I'll try that out as soon as Alpha5 is released.

Hi Graeme,
Since you have the restricted modules installed (ie a proprietary
module), your kernel has been tainted. Since your kernel is tainted,
the upstream kernel community will not help with this issue. The
following wiki can help explain about tainted kernels a bit more
Ohh, I forgot about the tainted kernel issue. Well, that's unfortunate,
since the open source nvidia driver is completely broken on my system,
so I can't test this without tainting the kernel.
I'll get those attachments on here shortly for you guys.

KVM dies after resuming from suspend
Great. I'm running 2.6.24-2 on my gutsy install now. The KVM problem
seems to still exist here, after resuming from suspend KVM doesn't work,
and this is what I get in dmesg:
[ 51.774905] Pid: 7650, comm: kvm Tainted: P2.6.24-2-generic #1

Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. It contains an updated
version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron
Alpha2 release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-2/ .
You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you
can, please verify

Thanks Graeme,
I'll try to update you when the linux-restricted-modules package is
available for the new Hardy release. Thanks!

Hi Graeme,
The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to
manually
I'm opened a new task against the actively developed kernel. However,
I'm closing the report against linux-source-2.6.22 as it does not meet
the criteria for a stable release update. You can learn more about the
stable release update process at

Well, I just tried to test this, but I couldn't, as my laptop does not
resume from sleep when using the 2.6.24-1-generic kernel. :(
I suspect it might be related to the video driver: there isn't a
restricted-modules package that I could see for that kernel yet, so I
had to use the open source
Wow, things have been busy this month. Anyway, I finally had a chance to
do some testing today, and looks like the hints on the other bug are
correct. If I remove the module before suspend and then re-insert after,
KVM works fine. Also, surprisingly, if I remove and re-add it *after*
I've had a
Hi Graeme,
Thank you for this report. As the other report you pointed to
suggested, if you unload your kvm module(s) prior to suspend and then
reload it after resuming, do you still experience this issue? Also, can
you please attach the full dmesg output to this report? Thanks.
