just tested 2.6.24 (.2? daily build 21.12) kernel with live CD because I
really really don't want to install alpha version on my machine because
of I had such a trouble to get my wireless, sound etc. working. Anyway
checking lspci card is still recognized as AR5006EG everything else is
the same
From the output of your lspci, the vendor id and device id do in fact
belong to the AR5006EG card. For some reason the AR5007EG seems to be
using the wrong pci device id. This is not a bug in the kernel but
rather with the device itself. After searching online, there are many
reports commenting

The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really
appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify
if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1
LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to
manually install the
