Ubuntu better. However, screem has been removed from Lucid for the
following reasons:
RoQA; inactive maintainer, dead upstream, buggy, depends on deprecated libraries

this bugreport looks quite old...
any news on it? I kinda get nearly the same crash with empathy during
spell checking...
