Public bug reported:

Cannot help further except:
The installations were on a 240 GBte SSD
sda1 is openSUSE 42.2 fist 1/4 of sda SSD
sda2 was intended to be Ubuntu 16.10 second 1/4 of sda SSD
and I had intended to install Fedora 25 on the third 1/4 of sda SSD but didn't
get there yet
I haven't yet rebooted or checked sda with GParted
It looks like Ubuntu 16.10 got installed but I won't know until I reboot and
see if I can select between openSUSE and Ubuntu.

I have a general comment on Ubuntu color choices. I dislike the bright
orange and purple screens. I have a BFA from Art Center College of
Design in film/photo and extensive film/video/photo experience so prefer
a neutral background that doesn't bias my color vision. I know I can set
this later but just find your native color choices to look cheap and
tacky. I also have a BSEE in computers from Calpoly Pomona and have
worked as systems/hardware/software R&D engineer in aerospace working
mostly on display systems, often safety critical ones - US Navy and FAA.

I may try installing the Mate Ubuntu 16.10 DVD that Linux Pro magazine
included if Unity gets too bothersome. I generally like using GNOME,
KDE, Mate and Cinnamon but have never gotten used to Unity. I'll see how
this installation of Ubuntu 16.10 works (if it does) and try to get used
to Unity for a while. Many things about Ubuntu seem quite favourable but
speaking as a systems engineer with user interface experience the idea
of "unity" or common user interface for smart phone and laptop/desktop
seems like it will always and necessarily be a compromise. As good as I
know Ubuntu is, I tend to favour using Fedora and probably openSUSE (as
I liked SUSE from using it decades ago). I have "Ubuntu Unleashed" book
for 16.04/16.10 which seems quite good so would like to get used to
Unity and Ubuntu. Just some well intended constructive commentary or
feedback.
