That issue was seen in the early gnome-session 3.23 upgrade. Then the
other gnome 3.24 packages has also been upgraded, and these numerous
crashes & reloads were then gone.

be sure to purge the possible orphans (gtkorphan/bleachbit) to get a cleaned
system; you may have some old setting
This is a nasty bug, any workaround yet ? Otherwise I'll have to
downgrade to 16.10
