Toshiba Satellite P850, Ubuntu Studio 16.04 In 'Power Manager', 'when laptop lid is closed' is set to 'suspend' In /etc/systemd/logind.conf, 'HandleLidSwitch=suspend' and 'HandleLidSwitchDocked=suspend' In /etc/UPower/UPower.conf, 'IgnoreLid=false' Even so, the laptop does not suspend when lid is closed ('lock screen' does not work, either). Selecting suspend from the logout button works fine. Opening lid while suspended wakes up the machine.
