Restarting the Xfce Panel (xfce4-panel --restart) solves the problem for
me. Two netowrk manager applet icons don't appear in the panel anymore.

Network manager icon a
This bug has remained over the years. The problem is that both the
"Notification area" and "Indicator plugin" panel items contain their own
copy of the Network icon. Only the latter shows a mouse hover effect for
it, so I assume it's the correct/preferable place to contain it.
A quick-fix is to re
