Rationale: We are currently maintaining a delta to Debian in the libvoikko library by disabling HFST support. Enabling HFST support by syncing libvoikko from Debian would bring libhfstospell9 as a runtime dependency to libvoikko, which is why this MIR is required. While libvoikko's inbuilt VFST support is continued to be used for Finnish, the traditional use case for libvoikko, hfst-ospell brings libvoikko spell checking to languages like Greenlandic, Northern Sami, Lule Sami and Southern Sami (requires corresponding zhfst data file to be installed in standard Voikko location like the one included in giella- sme binary package). Security: No known security history. No daemons or services. Quality assurance: No bugs open in Debian or Ubuntu. The released Debian 9.0 ships with hfst-ospell and HFST support enabled in libvoikko. Recently build time tests were fixed so that they are executed and pass on all architectures.
