Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 17.04, AMD HD 7420G.
I have difficulties in trying to configure an external monitor via VGA (HDMI 
works perfectly), the system crashes whenever I switch to extended mode. 
Sometimes I get one monitor switched on while the other off but never duplicate 
mode working perfectly nor extended mode. In the end the function never works.
