Public bug reported:

Try installing a GNOME Shell extension [1] that's supposed to add a
functioning suspend button to the user menu. What you'll find is the
button is there but clicking on it seems to do nothing. Suspend still
works for me though if I configure suspend to trigger when I press my
physical power button on my desktop in the power settings. These suspend
button extensions used to work just fine up until about 3 weeks ago.
