It depends to the old CPU . It needs kernel installation with> force PAE<. In
Updates it is impossible to switch. "Linux Mint" installation tells while
updating, not to install the new Kernel. It will not work (no PAE-CPU). - So
the System will work perfekt.

sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
Then re-install the package or updates.
