Status:
It's a PNG image, incorrectly named. When renamed to tux, and then
back to tux.jpg again, eog will open it without complaining. I'll
search for the possible reasons of this behaviour in the upstream bug
tracker and elsewhere. This probably qualifies as a duplicate of bug
#172416.
