I upgraded to Hardy which has a driver that should fix the issue. I am
having problems getting my xorg.conf to work though as follows:

Excellent. Xinerama is pretty much deprecated, and randr-1.2 is the
current method of configuring dualhead. Closing as fixed.

I had similar issues resolved with a newer -ati driver. Can you please
test a newer version from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XorgOnTheEdge ?
