LOL. It's silly but funny as "Options" menu in IM window takes any
character as the shortcut. I accidental pressed "O" and then what... it
started missing out all of the O's from my conversation.

This still seems to be a valid bug, or at least UI issue.
Steps to reproduce: (Tested in Linux client, version 2.5.5)
1. [Accidentally] hit Alt-O (which summons the options menu)
2. Type any character, or backspace. This will assign it to the shortcut for
enabling/disabling logging.
3. Keep
** Changed in: pidgin (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid

I actually got a response on this problem. It's not a bug, but
something I must has inadvertently caused. If you let your cursor
hover over the function in the drop down menu, then hit backspace, it
will eliminate the quick key setting that is giving you the problem.
