Steps to follow when a problem comes up:
- search a similar issue on the net; maybe you can fix it yourself.
- glance for help on ubuntuforums
- search and/or ask on askubuntu
- if its really a bug, then report it via the required script. Otherwise ask 
yourself if you are doing things the right way.

Note: extensions are better installed via the ubuntu archive now, for
compatibility and avoid conflict/race with a different path. So run:
sudo rm -rf ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions
