The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you (with the default settings, not your workaround)? Can you try
with latest Ubuntu
FWIW, since I started using "trunked" networking with my two onboard
ethernet adapters, the problem hasn't arisen. It's a good workaround
for me, but probably not for most people.
