I upgraded my system from 10.04 to 12.04 and didn't have to build the
driver separately to get the device to work.

Is this still an issue on more recent releases of Ubuntu? Precise has
lcdproc 0.5.5 which should have the lis driver built in. Has this fixed
everything?

I am using the nMedia display that works with the lis driver.
Everything works fine but I cannot get the scrolling to slow down even
using 0 as the speed.
I am using XBMC linux 9.11

I had the same problem on my Mythbuntu HTPC. I have the OEM version of
the nmedia pro-lcd. The lis driver is required for lcdproc to work with
this hardware.
I used the updated script provided by ironstormit worked flawlessly.

Thanks for posting the script/instructions - I'm still having trouble
compiling the lis driver. Looking at the output of the build scripts, it
is ignoring the 'lis' driver (list of the 'to be compiled' drivers is
empty) - must be failing one of the checks but I can't nail down which
test
As the updated to Karmic broke my LIS display, I'm attaching the updated
script to build the LIS module for Ubuntu.
This is tested and works on my amd64 machine.
Hopefully others find it helpful.
