Public bug reported: After upgrading from 16.04 to 18.04 synaptic failed to start. I get it to work from the command line with xhost + and sudo, but pkexec fails. It only shows the build in commandline authentication, but that fails obviously because of it is not a registered agent for polkit.
If I try to register the polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 I get the message: cannot open display: :0. After xhost + it fails with: ... The name org.gnome.SessionManager was not provided by any .service files. On other systems everything works as expected. I know there is a bug report from 2012 with similar behaviour. I can't find any differences to my other machines. This bug is very annoying and it would be very appreciated if that gets solved. ** Affects: system-config-samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1786032 Title: synaptic-pkexec 18.04 won't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-samba/+bug/1786032/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
