OK, I tried the fixes mentioned at: http://linux-ata.org/faq.html#combined 1. My bios (ASUS M2N4-SLI, v. 0909) didn't allow changing BIOS mode. 2. Appending combined_mode=libata booted, but I had no mouse or keyboard (both USB) 3. Appending combined_mode=ide worked! It booted, mouse and
