I do have the same bug and ran apport-collect 1800352 on my system. It also happens if I use the dropdown menu at the right of the top bar to lock the screen. Workaround: I can send my use the "pause"-symbol to start hibernation/suspension (I'm not sure which) and after waking up the OS again

@hjwp2 - FWIW, for me it does bring up the lock screen but it's still bugged, as--while I cannot interact with them once they're started--I am able to start applications in the Gnome Dock and as well as interact with any Gnome Activities Bar widgets. Depending on what's on your dock, I suppose
