Sorry. in #2 I wondered if a change to a config file would help mitigate
the issue, my play didn't make any difference, so ignore my openbox 'I
wonder' suggestion. unless you know more than I do :)

Tested this, at first I didn't see the issue (I was too quick & knew
what I wanted), then when I paused to read menus, yes the panel
disappeared (if mouse is on menu & not over panel). I did have this
issue when panel was in default (@ bottom), or moved to top of my
screen.
