thanks for the reply, it's not really a bug then. There are some report against
gnome-shell to better handle those cases.
The sidebar is what blocks the side snapping yes, the minimal width with the
sidebar is higher than the half screen so it's can be made to be fit there

Thanks for responding. Are there plans to make changes to allow for those with
lower resolutions.
Also is this why it the edge snapping works without the sidebar as the
width of the nautilus window without it is smaller? Or is it something
else?

What screen resolution do you use? If the nautilus minimal size is higher than
half of the screen then gnome-shell is going to refuse the action since it
can't fit it in half the
