As an update, I realized that since I've only ever run Ubuntu on this
machine, there was no region set for the drive (it doesn't come set from
the factory). Upon running regionset, I was able to get DVD playback
working on this great little machine, though I read that the DMA issue
still leads to c
I understand, but I at least want it to be fixed in Hardy :). Any idea
why this wasn't an issue for me before (my last laptop had a SATA hard
drive)?

This is a problem with libata not being able to enable DMA for SATA and
IDE. Do not hope to get it fixed in Gutsy (my opinion) .
