I am the original reporter of this bug. Fortunately, it seems to have
gone away by itself sometime in late Hardy/early Intrepid. Sorry I don't
know the details. I had switched back to Emacs-X11. One day, I got so
sick of the ugly fonts that I reinstalled Emacs-Snapshot, and it just
worked.

support 3d acceleration).
The "hanging" is quite erratic; I've been "texing" all the afternoon;
shifting from emacs to xpdf is ok when I click on the titlebar; it's ok

Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex; same thing hapens (without having "Windows
Selector" or "Force Quit"). When editing in emacs, trying to focus on
anothe window (with mouse or alt-tab) hangs X. Sometimes it recover
after a while; Ctrl+Alt+F1 followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 seems enough to
regain control.

A bit more info. (1) If you use the Window List AND there is more than
one window associated with a button, clicking that button also hangs.
(2) It is not always necessary to kill the panel. Doing Ctrl+Alt+F1
followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 is often enough to regain control.
