I have this problem BUT suspect if is system wide and not just firefox. Looking
up just now as it took over 20 MINUTES to open the attach dialogue box (using
web.whatsapp). This is a ridiculous amount of time and first time it has been
this long.
Any suggestions are welcomed as to how I can
Marking as fixed because the upstream bug report claims this is fixed in
firefox 66.0, which is already available in 19.04.
The update will soon be available in all supported Ubuntu series.

I cannot reproduce the problem in a clean, up-to-date bionic VM.
