This bug also affects me using Kubuntu 20.04 (Plasma 5.18) in the Wayland
session, and Slack installed as snap.
Here, however, the fix of changing font settings does not work, and I don't see
the error message in journalctl. Also, in my case the other processes that
appear to be active are XWayl
The fix from Adan Koch worked for me, too. System Settings > Fonts >
Change anti-alias settings.

Clicking link in slack snap under KDE ca
I can confirm the fix from Adan Koch. I went into the Fonts panel,
changed the anti-aliasing settings, Apply, change them back, Apply. Now
Slack links are opening almost immediately like in every other
application. I did not have to restart Slack.
Thanks Adan!

I was having the same issue until I found a solution. Whenever I tried
to click a link in Slack, the logs in journalctl -f showed:
"xdg-desktop-portal-kde[1886]: xdp-kde-settings: Read called with parameters:
xdg-desktop-portal-kde[1886]: xdp-kde-settings: group:
"org.kde.kdeglobals.General
Confirmed on Kubuntu 19.04. Any clicked links will open in the browser
several minutes later. The time between each link actually opening in
the browser (in my case, Firefox, but it also happens with Chrome) does
not seem to be proportional to the time between clicks.
I have noticed the bug in Vis
I tried to uninstall the slack snap and install it again, but it didn't
change anything

I can confirm this as well. For me it's only happening in Slack; a link
will eventually open in the browser, after well over a minute rather
than the 2 seconds previously. So far that's the only application I've
found where it happens. Slack was installed via snap back on 18.10.

could my issue mentioned in https://askubuntu.com/questions/1137876
/opening-links-from-some-applications-takes-a-long-time be related?
Some snap applications work fine, while others are stuck. Even running
xdg-open from the terminal of one of those snap applications (rider) is
taking 2 minutes

It might also be worth noting that clicking links in the telegram snap
in the session work fine.

Running xdg-open and kde-open5 on the command line directly work fine as
well, by the way.

I haven't tried under gnome and I'm afraid I don't really want to mess
about with my main desktop to do so. I've tested again under kubuntu
18.04 and it works fine there.
