Michael S. Zick was kind enough to submit an updated patch to the aufs-
users mailing list. It applies to the Ubuntu kernel with some offsets.
Junjiro Okajima, the aufs maintainer, also commented on the patch: I
think it is good.

That's what I was planning next, actually: Make a patch to add aufs to
linux-ubuntu-modules. In my tests, it's proven to be much more reliable
than unionfs (which is still version 1.4 in hardy).
I'm currently adding support for diskless clients to Mythbuntu and I
*need* aufs for that - unionfs
