If you go to applications > add remove.
In the top right hand corner change the selection to all available
packages.
Search for ubuntu-restricted-extras
Check the package and press apply.
This will install support for nonfree formats such as MP3.

Hi, you need to install the restricted package with the command
sudo aptitude install ubuntu-restricted-extras
In the preferences window of sound juicer choose the MP3 ripping
profile.
iPods don't play the open Ogg Vorbis file type.
