without the compilation log, I fear there is nothing we can do. We
should really look into adding an apport hook into our emacs packages so
that these compilation logs are automatically attached, though.

I also met this problem. My solution was to 1st remove emacs22 (and all
packages depend on it), then reinstall emacs22. It works.

superficially. The error message simply means that some package failed
to install, but there are a lot of different packages and a lot of
reasons they could fail to install. The file you attached seems to
imply that you do not
I also have this problem, for me it appears to occur during the
installation of EITHER 'emacs22-gtk' or 'emacs22-nox'.
I get an identical error apart from the different package names and a
different temp file.
I am attaching one of the temporary files I recieved with this error.
