I'm going to close this for now since Kemel, the original bug reporter,
commented he bought a different sound card. If anyone has the same
hardware and if this is still an issue with the most recent Karmic 9.10
Alpha release, please open a new bug. ISO images are available for

Hello
Sorry to have been so late.
The computer still runs hardy. I installed three intrepid packages :
asoundconf-gtk_1.6-0ubuntu1_all.deb, libasound2_1.0.17a-0ubuntu4_i386.deb and
libasound2-plugins_1.0.17-0ubuntu4_i386.deb.
So after that
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ asoundconf list
Names of available
Well, I don't know cause I gave up waiting for a correction and bought
another sound card. But since it's been reproducible from 7.04 to Hardy,
I think it is a reason good enough to set it as confirmed and let
someone work on it.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 alpha?

I installed Xubuntu Hardy on an old Pentium II.There was no sound card. Some
times later I put an Sound Card on this computer.
lspci lists it and lsmod shows that the right modules are loaded.
But asoundconf seems not to see this card.
