Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic
HP released a new version 3.6.16 of it's CCISS-driver (obtainable from http://cciss.sourceforge.net/) on the 31st of July 2007. The updated CCISS 3.6.16 version supports alot of new decices >From the RELEASE-file: 1) Added support for Smart Array P800 Controller. 2) Added support for Smart Array E500 Controller. 3) Added support for Smart Array P400 Controller. 4) Added support for Smart Array E200 Controller. Hence, a lot of newly bought servers with SCSI do not work as expected. A quick search for 'cciss' here at launchpad and at ubuntuforums.org shows that there are more people experiencing the lack of support for their hw. Among the proven symptoms if you use the cciss-driver currently distributed are: - Partition tables missing or suddenly 'disappearing' - Creating partition tables beyond the end of devices possible, causes invalid partitions later on. I also realize that to verify this bug you need some expensive hardware from a specific vendor. If there are any tests you would like to have ran, I could try to use a spare device available for a limited time and deliver results from it. I suggest the driver in the linux-image package is updated in stable and for Hardy. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- HP/CPQ SmartArray driver outdated (CCISS) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183767 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
