Do you mean that installing linux32 removed "util-linux" and
/usr/bin/getopt?
"linux32" is provided by "util-linux" for me (on 32bit), so it seems the
linux32 package is incomplete for 64bit..?

Yes, I found it by searching a bit better. =)
I deleted the linux32 package and reinstalled the util-linux package. (I
installed the linux32 package because I wanted to run flash on my 64bit Ubuntu
and I'm happy that the flash extension still works)

Thank you for your bug report.
It appears however that you've removed the util-linux package, which
provides the getopt command used by ucf.
Please check, if the essential util-linux package is installed, which
should provide /usr/bin/getopt
