At the moment, I know of no way to reload fontconfig configuration in a
running GTK application without restarting the application, which is
pretty difficult for oem-config to do to itself. Further progress on
this bug is stalled on that.
I believe that the current state is that fontconfig will be

is currently calling fontconfig-voodoo, what else is necessary?
