Tested Friday (26/09) on Intrepid livecd seems to work fine, I haven't
installed onto disk but can be closed as far as I am concerned.

Bugs,
I created a shell script that switches off the laptop panel and sets the
external monitor to the desired resolution (via xrandr) before Plasma
starts on login, but only if the external monitor is connected; if it's
not, no tweaking is needed with X resolution settings. I called the
script plasma.sh
Addendum to my last comment: you have to set the correct permissions for
the plasma.sh script, of course:
sudo chmod 755 /usr/lib/kde4/bin/plasma.sh

Unfortunately I have deleted that installation since I reported the bug.
What I can say is that the bug still appears with Kde 4.0.1 version that
was released yesterday (27/02) as part of Hardy Kde4 LiveCD release.

Is this still happening with the 4.0.1 updates for KDE 4? I think I
witnessed something similar a couple of months back while attached to a
