Public bug reported:

chromium-browser version 80.0.3987.87-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64 does not
work when using remote display; the browser window is a solid pink area
without any menu (see picture).

Same with the (existing?) command line option "--disable-gpu"

Downgrading to 
chromium-browser_79.0.3945.130-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
chromium-browser-l10n_79.0.3945.130-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_all.deb
chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra_79.0.3945.130-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb
resolve the issue.

All packages are up to date on 2020-02-17 on xenial, xenial-updates and 
xenial-security
