Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lyx

When I tested the alpha3 release of hardy + recent updates on my i386 laptop I
found the following packaging problems for the
package Lyx:

I use: DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu  DISTRIB_RELEASE=8.04   DISTRIB_CODENAME=hardy
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu hardy (development branch)"
The Lyx package is: lyx 1.5.3-1

1. the logo of Lyx does not appear in the Gnome-menus.
2. the text in the toolbar and the menues of Lyx are hardly readable.
(antialiased fonts, I guess this is due to the fact that Lyx uses Qt as a
GUI-toolkit?)
3. the tutorial provided by lyx cannot be compiled due to missing latex
packages.
While I see that there are possible use-cases where it is handy to have a
minimal install
of Lyx it would be great to have an option to install Lyx with the packages
that are
required to (latex)-compile the documentation of lyx.
Perhaps it would be good idea to provide a meta package called "Lyx complete"
where
the needed packages are pulled from the repositories.

** Affects: lyx (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
