I'm not sure if it's even the same bug, but my system now boots normally
using grub2 1.93.16+2.02-2ubuntu8.15, but i have to manually edit the
boot entry at bios, and use the file /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi,
instead of /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/shimx64.efi (and now I'm unable to use
secure boot).
I also have a Dell notebook, and also can't boot when updated to
1.93.16+2.02-2ubuntu8.15. It won't boot even in recovery mode. It freezes
before the splash screen, or at the message "loading initial ramdisk" when in
recovery mode. I had to boot by usb media, then chroot, and then, downgrade to
I finally ended up rebooting and there was no problem (the efibootmgr
entries were good).
The message after running apt-get upgrade :
