@Hui
Again so sorry for the delay
I've removed all instances of the dmic_detect=0 and attached the dmesg for
both the 5.3.0-46 and 5.3.0-53 versions.
Thank you so much

@Eric,
please run "sudo grep dmic_detect /etc/* -r" to find where set the
dmic_detect=0, then remove it, and install the latest 5.3 kernel
(5.3.0-46 or later), then reboot and upolad the output of dmesg.

Hey Hui,
Sorry for the delays but I was in the middle of the exam period and hence
very busy.
I'm on holidays now and have much more time to address these emails, were
you able to find a solution to the issue?
Thanks,
Eric

Hey,
Sorry I attempted to paste that into the command line and its saying this:

I did, however, manage to remove "snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0", from the
grub.conf (again removing this didn't help)
I've attached the updated dmesg for this.

You add "snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0" somewhere, maybe it is in the
grub.conf?

Hey Hui,
The kernel didn't work after that testing.
Could you indicate as to where the dmic_detect=0 line is?
Sorry I tried many "fixes" so not sure where I put that line.

OK, does the sound work with the testing kernel? and looks like you
didn't remove the workaround "dmic_detect=0".

Sorry for the late reply I was trying to figure out how to boot from the

Hey Hui,
Thank you for looking into this!
It's unfortunate but installing that kernel didn't fix the problem, I've
attached the dmesg output to this email.
I will also mention this may be part of a bigger bug, as I cannot change my
brightness either (assuming display driver issue here too, also
