Public bug reported: I noticed a series of random crashes when using Xsane. One of the few that I was been able to reproduce, seems to be caused by using 16 bit depth instead of 8, as configured in the "basic options" menu.
The crash is produced at the moment of acquiring an image preview. The moment the scanner starts moving, xsane closes. Launching xsane from a terminal does not provide any useful information during the crash. I am using Ubuntu 20.04LTS, with a clean install. However, that bug was already present in 18.04LTS user@laptop-TM1703:~$ apt-cache policy xsane xsane: Instal·lat: 0.999-8ubuntu2 Candidat: 0.999-8ubuntu2 Taula de versió: *** 0.999-8ubuntu2 500 500 http://es.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status user@laptop-TM1703:~$ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: xsane 0.999-8ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-26.30-generic 5.4.30 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-26-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Apr 25 01:17:11 2020 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-04-24 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200423) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> LANG=ca_ES.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xsane UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: xsane (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal xsane ** Tags added: xsane -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874934 Title: Xsane crashes when acquiring preview if bit depth is set to 16 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xsane/+bug/1874934/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
