Closing this report regarding we had no answer from the reporter and in
recent version of synaptic the user can change the history. Feel free to
reopen if this is still an issue.

In the latest version of synaptic the user can choose between "keep
history" or "delete history files older than XX days" . I'm wondering
if this report is still an issue ?
