The bug also affects my PC since yesterday. Ubuntu 20.04 Xorg, 2 screens
(HDMI and a DVI connector) connected running on a propetary NVidia
driver.

Thanks but those are both Chrome crashes. What I was looking for was a
crash in 'gnome-shell'. If you don't have any of those then that's
probably not the issue.

If you log into a Xorg session (select 'Ubuntu' on the login screen)
then does that avoid the problem?
